"Golf is a sport of the mind and your club is nothing more than a tool. If a club is blinding one's senses, that is no longer golf."—this philosophy, which may seem unconventional for a club manufacturer, originates from Ichikawa Town in Hyogo Prefecture—a mecca for domestically produced iron heads, once renowned for its peak production volume in Japan.

We believe that a golf club should exist between precision-engineered industrial products and artistic creations without strict standards. Our goal is to craft products that can be cherished by those who may not know us, even 10, 20, or 50 years from now.

Regardless of the era, our commitment to craftsmanship that resonates with human sensibilities remains unchanged.  “Don’t let the clubs take over your golf” serves as a guiding principle for us, the artisans who passionately embrace the game.

Makino Golf was founded by Shohei Nomura, a former industrial designer from Tokyo, who moved to Hyōgo Prefecture to pursue his passion for golf club manufacturing. The region is renowned for its skilled artisans and boasts a legacy of craftsmanship spanning over 90 years.

All Makino irons and wedges are forged at Kyōei Golf Industry Co., Ltd., the oldest golf club forging house in Japan.

The putters result from a partnership between Nomura and machinist Shinagawa, merging craftsmanship with precision engineering.


MODAL ARCHITEX

With Shinagawa’s addition to the team, we launched MA3 (Modal Architex), a bold and innovative line. True to its name, MA3 combines Modal, a term for control in machinery, with Architex (derived from “architects”) to represent creativity, capturing the spirit of trial and error that lies at the heart of craftsmanship.

Each product in the lineup boasts an artistic allure, and in hand, it reflects the stoic presence of a dedicated golfer. This resonates with Makino’s core philosophy of “Don’t let the clubs take over your golf”—an athlete-first approach to performance-driven golf.
